We are looking for a CNC Machinist II at our Benton Harbor, MI facility. Responsibilities
Operates lathes, drill presses, mills, routers, grinding machines, duplicating, and profile machines. Works from drawings and written instructions to create replacement and new parts in making complex repairs to metal parts.
Work is diversified and machining is performed to ordinary tolerances. Requires extensive knowledge of various metals and of measurements used in machining processes. Determines dimensions and tolerances of piece to be machined, sequence of operations and machines required by studying specifications, such as blueprints, sketches, damaged parts or descriptions of parts. Computes cutting speeds, feed rates and dimensions. Prepares and pre-sets all tools needed for machining
operations. Inspects machined work pieces to verify conformance to specifications.
Performs housekeeping of machine and work area. Daily maintenance check of machine. Education/Experience/Skills/Knowledge: High School diploma or equivalent Two to five years of machining experience. Prefer experience with large horizontal boring mills, both manual and CNC. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy. Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate. Able to apply concepts of high school math. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
TECHNICAL SKILLS The individual must have a working knowledge of the following: Equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation. This also supports the supervisor's role of teacher and trainer for his/her personnel. Cost issues in order to make daily decisions that will reduce overall costs and will help the supervisor find areas that require improvement. Quality standards. Regulatory requirements including but not limited to wage and hour requirements, environmental and waste minimization, company policies, and personnel requirements including OSHA, DEQ and EEO.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS May be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License.
