This handsome 1969 Sportster XLCH is the last of the line of the kickstart-only, magneto-fired ironhead Sporties, born in the 1950s and still kicking backin the 60s, 70s, 80s and beyond.
Gorgeous in its " Sparkling Gold" livery (original color but older repaint) and almost 100% original equipment. This rare beast hasn't been "
updated" or " improved. " What was chromed from the factory is still chrome. What was painted is still painted. What was polished is still polished. It still sports its original drum brakes, gaitored forks, alloy rims, factory exhaust, two-tone " buddy" seat, carb, " ham can" air filter, Morse-Fairbanks magneto, buckhorn handlebars, etc.
In fact, if you look closely, you'll see it still wears OEM Goodyear All Traction rear and Sport Rib front tires! Of course the left grip controls the spark person/advance, it shifts on the right and brakes on the left. There is no battery. The generator powers the lights and horn when running. It's vintage, pure and
primal. I changed the fluids, put in a new primary cover gasket, cleaned the carb, installed a new original style fuel petbird, cleaned and set the points, etc. After this, I fired it up, and test rode it the 5 miles showing on the tripmeter.
Ran like a freight train, clutch, gearbox, brakes, all good. Sounds fantastic. Clean title.

This 1951 EL Panhead is an authentic, vintage, Harley Davidson Chopper.
It also has many period correct " chopper era" parts. This engine was rebuilt beautifully before the longtime owner had health issues and then the bike was put away and stored for several years after his death. Once acquired, two new coils and a new battery were
added by LIVE FREE CYCLES, I rebuilt the carb, and this thing has run beautifully for me. I HAVE THE ENGINE REBUILD SHEET, explaining the engine re-builder used an H-cam, Andrews gears, installed Rockers, did a valve job, new guides. and several receipts which show the effort the previous owner had put into the engine and overall maintenance.
" It is so rare to find an engine done beautifully which is not in need of being torn down. With that said, it is a 69 year old bike and will require some periodic maintenance. (like any bike really) I always want to be honest and I would never intentionally mislead a seller. So please don't buy this bike and think you are not used to a vintage,
kick-start, suicide clutch, jockey-shift chopper. This is the best running PANHEAD, I have ever owned and the most fun to ride. The tires have great tread but the rear tire is showing some dry rot.
I ride old bikes with old tires but I always tell people the truth, aim to give an accurate description of what I am selling, so you may want new tires for your own reassurance and safety. This bike really is solid and while it is a Harley, it doesn't leak more than a drop or have issues with sumping. The lights work, has a horn. With that said, it is a '51 frame, '51 transmission, STD dual-plugged heads, and what I believe are original or period correct tanks. That along with history of this bike being the previous owners pride and joy, this chopper was done TIGHT, and RIGHT.
