adults 45 years and older using the Strategic Prevention Framework. This will be done through development of a coalition who you will involve in the decision-making process as to what strategies will be most fitting for the respective county. Your coalition will be very involved in all steps of planning, developing, and implementing strategies to reduce adult alcohol misuse.

Training will be provided by IHHS as well as the Prevention Supervisor. This grant is specifically in Humboldt County. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Develop service goals and objectives in conjunction with prevention team and prevention supervisor relative to specific funding source(s). Provide professional

training to the public, community coalitions, area agencies, support groups, and schools in regard to prevention strategies. This includes training teachers, employers, human service personnel, and community members in prevention strategies which may be used to make changes in community attitudes and norms.

Assist community coalitions in making environmental changes in their communities. This includes training coalition members on recruitment and community advocacy in regards to alcohol and drug abuse, tobacco use, and gambling. Maintain public relations between the agency prevention project and community resources. Provide group presentations in schools, industry, community groups and

human services and other appropriate groups in the area of substance abuse, tobacco, and gambling.

Provide support, consultation, reinforcement and coordination to area communities, task forces, and agencies in an effort to unite and coordinate all funded programming requirements. Recruit and coordinate qualified volunteers and coalition members. Keep informed regarding new information relevant to problem gambling and substance abuse prevention. Completed in a timely manner as directed by the Prevention Supervisor. Schedule: Type: Full-time Hours: 40 hours each week, generally Monday-Friday, 8a-4:30p, and occasional evenings and weekends. 40% of work time will be in direct service to communities served.

Education and Experience Qualifications: Associate's Degree in Education, Community Health, Human Services, or related field. Two years work experience in education, training, public relations, or community activism OR three years work experience in a human service agency. Must be a Certified Prevention Specialist or be able to obtain certification within 18 months from date of hire. Required Knowledge and Abilities: Must be able to interpret grant requirements from the written document and develop a useable, reasonable, and measurable work plan.

Must have demonstrable knowledge in prevention theory, problem gambling and substance abuse information, and public relations. Employee must understand community backssment and process. Must understand and be able to carry out the Strategic Prevention Framework, community activism, and volunteer development models. Must be able to absorb change and be a lifelong learner. Ability to work independently, using sound judgment while out in the communities. Must be able and willing to accept and learn changing duties dictated by funding. Ability to communicate effectively, regularly, and fluently in English; bilingual (English/Spanish) abilities are preferred but not required.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of students, community members, clients or agency employees. Knowledge and ability to use computer systems including web-based time keeping system, contact management systems, internet software, spreadsheet software, word-processing software, and Power Point software. Physical Demands: The staff member is regularly required to sit and talk or hear.

The staff member is occasionally required to stand and walk. The staff member may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. The staff member must have the ability to move within and between agency buildings, standing, sitting, lifting and manipulating objects typically found in this work environment. The staff member may be required to work at any agency building as needed/directed and be responsible for her/his own transportation. The staff member may be required to work extended periods of time at a video display terminal (VDT).

The staff member must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle and prioritize multiple, competing tasks and demands and to seek supervisory assistance as appropriate.
