is to determine the vascular determinants of anesthesia-induced hypotension and to identify organ perfusion-dependent definitions of hypotension in the setting of general anesthesia. Our group uses cutting-edge, clinically relevant in vivo and in vitro techniques to evaluate the complex interaction of anesthetic agents, vascular physiology, blood pressure, and organ perfusion to establish best practices for intraoperative management in vulnerable patients.

This research is part of an NIH NIGMS-funded R35 program aimed at studying the above in animals at the extremes of age. The lab is also interested in perinatal stroke, and a series of experiments are being performed in a piglet model

to understand its pathogenesis and treatment options better. The successful applicant will be involved in both research programs. The Cross Cutting Research Analyst will work with staff in the California Department of Public Health Infectious Diseases Branch (IDB), Disease Investigations Section (DIS) to improve data collection, surveillance, and case and outbreak investigations for a variety of foodborne, waterborne, and environmental diseases.

The Research Analyst’s primary responsibilities would be to support the ELC Epidemiologists and Surveillance Coordinator with: development and testing of infectious disease case report forms, development and expansion of the real-time reporting dashboard, and conducting data analysis projects. As needed, this position may also support other Cross Cutting activities

such as assisting with case interviews and outbreak investigations, entering case or outbreak data into the statewide disease surveillance system (Cal REDIE), reviewing disease reports to finalize annual surveillance counts, developing protocols or education/outreach materials, and responding to public record requests.

This full-time, temporary position is grant funded through 7/31/2024 but may be extended if funding is available. The Systems Architecture research team

is diverse, with a broad range of skillsets and expertise that enables the exploration and development of new ideas not possible in more traditional monolithic research organizations.

We are seeking highly qualified candidates to come join one of our research teams as an intern, with the possibility of longer-term co-innovation and collaboration. We are particularly interested in individuals with a background in computer systems, computer architecture, photonics, memory technology, and interconnects, with a good understanding of the current state of the art, major trends and opportunities, and a demonstrated track record in making things real in innovative ways.

The ideal candidate combines this interest with a broad, entrepreneurial interest in creating the next generation of HPE's products and technologies. We expect all our researchers (including interns and post-docs) to provide thought leadership and technical influence both internally and externally to HPE, as well as take innovative ideas and make them real - contributing along the full range from initial novel ideas to design, development, implementation, evaluation, and technology transfer. The ideal candidate can thrive in an applied research environment, balancing significant technical and scientific contributions with the ability to bring such contributions to practice through innovative solutions that address the needs of our customers and partners.

We expect the successful candidate to collaborate with Hewlett Packard Labs research teams as well as with external partners, and to work in alignment with HPE's broader innovation community. Excellent software systems building skills are a significant plus. Education and Experience Pursuing Ph D degree (or other degree with significant research and innovation experience) in a relevant discipline (e. puter science, electrical engineering, math, physics, statistics, mechanical engineering, etc.

) Track record of world-class innovative contributions and ideas. Experience with innovative solution development, such as developing proofs-of-concept, first-of-a-kind solutions, and/or technology transfer. Technical Skills: Experience with basic data science tools in Python or R Experience with at least one cloud orchestration and management tools like Docker, Kubernetes, Slurm, Apache Mesos, etc. Experience with serverless platforms like Knative, Open Faas etc. Experience with Python and Go. Ability to develop rapid understanding of select problems and opportunities.

Deep understanding of the relevant environment, ecosystem, trends, and literature. Excellent research and development skills. Ability to innovate, make research contributions, and bring ideas to reality in compelling ways. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English. Strong track record to work independently and in teams. Strong systems programming and software engineering skills. Demonstrated ability to generate, frame, and carry out leadership research as shown, for example, by papers published in top-tier conferences or journals.

Preferred Skills: Familiarity with designing, implementing, and managing cloud architecture. Knowledge of hybrid and multi-cloud strategies, including integration with on-premises infrastructure. Knowledge of implementing green data center practices, including energy-efficient technologies and cooling optimization. Understanding of sustainability regulations, standards, and best practices as they apply to data center design and operation. Familiarity with workload scheduling, resource allocation, and optimization in distributed computing environments. Demonstrated ability to analyze workloads, predict resource requirements, and dynamically allocate resources to meet performance, efficiency, and sustainability goals.
