Employee w ill accurately document all time worked. Conduct outreach and educational activities to health-care providers, health-care clinics, hospitals, health-care facilities, high schools, colleges, and universities with a focus on public health issues, including immunizations, family planning, WIC, and public health preparedness.

Assists the Cameron Public Health (CCPH) Immunization Program to help carry out Immunization Program activities, including but not limited to supporting the Texas Vaccines for Children and Adult Safety Net Programs, Imm Trac2, and other activities in support of helping to increase immunization and vaccination rates among the residents of Cameron County and

Rio Grande Valley. Works closely with the Immunization Coordinator to help carry out the duties and activities of the Perinatal Hep B Program as required by the Immunization Locals grant.

Works closely with the Immunization Coordinator to implement and support an Immunization Coalition in Cameron County. Performs moderately complex identification, outreach, and data entry. Uses national public health observances as opportunities to conduct specific education and promotional activities to give emphasis to the importance of the public health issues. Participate in statewide media campaigns by distributing public service announcements and materials to local television and radio stations,

newspapers, parent publications, university newspapers, high school newspapers, and neighborhood newspapers.

Participate in special initiatives throughout the community focusing on public health issues, threats and/or emerging diseases. Collaborates with Cameron County Public Health Programs Directors or designee to effectively and accurately promote program services to help meet program and department goal and objectives. Establish and maintain positive relationships with a variety of community agencies and organizations, including other departments within Cameron County. Serves as a resource and community partner for individuals, professionals, and community agencies.

Assist with the development, evaluation, and distribution of culturally appropriate educational and health promotion information and material. Assist with social media marketing of departmental activities and public health messaging via social media platforms established by CCPH. Other duties as assigned. SECTION II-JOB REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Graduate from an accredited school of licensed vocational nursing and current licensure as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. -OR-Bachelor's degree with two (2) years' experience working with the general public. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of safety and infection control rules.

Thorough knowledge of medical terminology. Knowledge of public health laws and regulations. Knowledge of natural history of common infectious diseases. Thorough communication skills to communicate with the public (oral, written and Spanish speaking ability). Knowledge of computer programs software (MS, Word, Excel, Power Point, internet). Ability to work with confidential client information. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to work with public. Ability to work with others as a team member. Knowledge of proper office etiquette in handling telephone and public.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have a valid Texas Driver's License, comply with State of Texas Driving Laws, and maintain an acceptable driving record. Must have reliable transportation. Employees of Cameron County may be required to work during any natural disaster or emergency, extended hours and non-traditional work schedules (i. e. Saturdays and Sundays). Criminal background check is required for employment or continued employment. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Good health and physical condition sufficient to permit full performance of the duties of the position.

If additional assistance is required, employee must request assistance prior to performing the assignment. SECTION III-JOB DIMENSIONS CONTACTS: EXTERNAL CONTACTS : Occasional contact with other health, social, and educational care agencies, outside organizations. Frequent contact with clinic clientele. Communication is via telephone, written communication and face to face. INTERNAL CONTACTS : Utilizes tact when dealing with County employees, health, social and educational care providers, and clientele regarding operations issues. Constant contact with County Personnel. Communicating is primarily face-to-face, via telephone and through written communication.

RESPONSIBILITY: Comply with Cameron County and Department of State Health Services rules/regulations and display a positive public image. As a Cameron County employee, the identity of every client shall be kept confidential except to the extent necessary to carry out the purpose of an investigation, hearing, or judicial proceeding. Chaplains appointed on a temporary basis prior to the effective date of the qualification standard may not have their temporary appointment extended, or be reappointed on a temporary or permanent basis, until they fully meet the basic requirements of the standard. Chaplains initially grandfathered into this occupation, who subsequently obtain education and/or certification that meets all the basic requirements of this qualification standard, must maintain the required credentials as a condition of employment in the occupation.

Chaplains who were retained in this occupation, under this provision, and subsequently leave the occupation, lose protected status and must meet the full VA qualification standard requirements in effect at the time of reentry to the occupation.
