position is located at Lower Granite Natural Resources Office, operated by the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, and situated in Clarkston, Washington. Duties Performs tasks related to the operation and maintenance of the dam structure and appurtenant equipment; administrative, shop and storage buildings; and recreation sites and natural resource features including wildlife habitat developments.
Operates trucks, wheeled tractor with front-end loader and backhoe attachments, air compressor, high pressure cleaning equipment, lubrication equipment, chain saw, garden tractor/lawn mowers, hand and power tools and various other equipment items. Performs of a variety of subjourneyman skill level
trade tasks in the following skills: carpentry, painting, plumbing, metal work, concrete work and mechanical maintenance. Performs a variety of landscaping and grounds maintenance such as mowing, pruning, cutting of dead trees and shrubs, tree planting, trail clearing, fertilizing, weeding, and other beautification work.
Operates a boat up to 26 feet on the lake to get to otherwise inaccessible areas. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element) : Ability to do the work of a(n) MAINTENANCE WORKER HELPER ~ without more than normal supervision. Must be able to perform the majority of the following routine duties, working from easily understood written and oral directions: carpentry, painting, plumbing, metal work, concrete work, mechanical maintenance and grounds keeping for grounds, structures, fixtures, utilities and equipment, without more than normal supervision.
- Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. The incumbent normally works on project recreation and wildlife area facilities and equipment requiring considerable standing, stooping, bending, walking, and reaching. May perform work on ladders and scaffolds that requires overhead reaching. The work requires the lifting of materials, tools, and equipment that weigh up to 75 pounds. Majority of work is performed outside with exposure to a variety of weather and temperature extremes. Some tasks may be performed inside. There is exposure to potential insect and snakebite.
Is subject to cuts and bruises common to users of hand and power tools. May be subject to strain from lifting or carrying heavy tools or equipment. Is exposed to traffic hazards while driving on both improved and unimproved road surfaces.
