Full-time is typically 4 to 5 shifts per week with the possibility of additional shifts if needed. You travel between group homes to provide support in several locations. In addition, you help implement the individual support plan (ISP) daily objectives in the homes of our clients and in the community. The clients with intellectual disabilities you serve may have mobility issues, health problems, seizure disorders, psychiatric issues, or challenging behaviors, but you take it all in stride.
You use effective teaching and mentoring techniques to assist them with patience, understanding, and life skills training. By modeling appropriate behavior, you also teach them necessary social skills. Using your strong organizational skills, you maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation as well as promptly report any concerns about health or safety.
