Sponsored Programs, the Director's scope of responsibilities includes: strategic planning and management of a multi-million dollar externally funded acoustics research program, representing the NCPA to internal and external stakeholders, facilitating a collegial and productive environment among the approximately 40 full time faculty, staff, and students, promoting collaborative research efforts between the laboratory and various UM academic departments, and overseeing the day to day operations of the lab.

The incumbent is expected to maintain an active role as a leading scientist in a field that is central to the NCPA mission through the continued development of his/her own vigorous basic

and/or applied research program. Minimum Qualifications An earned Ph D in Physics, Engineering, Geophysical Sciences, or a related field, is required, as well as a documented history of research and leadership success in physical acoustics, demonstrated experience in leadership and administration, and a proven track record of generating external funding.

We welcome candidates with experience in the broad field of physical acoustics. Current and emerging research thrusts at the NCPA include: Infrasound Applied acoustics Geophysical acoustics and porous media Aeroacoustics Ultrasonics Structural Health Monitoring Ocean acoustics Special Instructions Must be able to obtain and maintain a

to support retention efforts for underrepresented student populations. • Provides oversite for retention programs and related student success initiatives, including but not limited to peer mentoring programs and men of color retention initiatives.

• Creates backssment tools for evaluations of programs and services, backsses programs, and utilizes information to enhance or develop new initiatives. • Supervise graduate and student staff. • Manages and maintains budgets for retention initiatives and programs to include oversight of purchases for student leadership teams and preparation of budget reports and updates. • Leverages technology to aid in mentoring, retention, and success efforts. • Performs similar or related duties as assigned or required.

Essential Functions These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department. AND Experience: Three (3) years of experience related to the above described duties.
