RESPONSIBILITIES Establish and maintain good working relationships with domestic and overseas suppliers' salespeople Verify the validity of purchase requisitions and system generated materials requirements by checking the stock status of the items requested Obtain and analyze price quotes, quality, delivery dates, payment terms and other factors to determine the optimal
supplier in a timely manner; i. e. the objective is to obtain the lowest price with the most favorable terms After verifying specifications and confirming the validity of the requirement, finalize agreements with suppliers on price, delivery dates, payment terms, etc.
Prepare purchase orders Acquire materials and services through the issuance of purchase orders to suppliers. Continually monitor the status of orders especially critical ones Expedite orders when required Authorize payment for purchases by forwarding receiving documentation when appropriate Monitor drop shipments of materials directly from suppliers to customers and inform Accounting when such goods have been delivered Coordinate frequently with Planning, Sales and Product Management, and Accounting to a lesser extent Meet and otherwise coordinate with Inventory Control, Quality, Product Management and suppliers to discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services and determine corrective action Arrange returns of goods to suppliers and ensure that credit memos or replacement goods are received as appropriate Evaluate and monitor purchase orders to be sure that vendors and items comply with the terms and conditions of the purchase orders and to determine the need for changes.
