Student athletes promote school spirit, school pride, and encourage the members of the athletic teams.

Their involvement and enthusiasm in the Cornerstone community helps current and future students desire to be part of the community. The Varsity Track & Field Coach is responsible for the operation of the program while remaining in compliance with the Board of Education, district, building and MHSAA rules and policies. The district supports promotion

of internal candidates. Proof of a minimum of an Associate Degree or equivalent (evidence of 60 hours of current credits) and evidence of a certified plan towards a Bachelor's Degree must be present at the time of application Applicants must provide evidence of experience in high school and/or college sports, in the area of the applicable position.

Must have at least three (3) years of previous coaching in the area of applicable position Must have knowledge of athletic procedures Verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills required Pass a background check and drug screening RESPONSIBILITIES: Must provide and organize adequate supervision before, during, and after practices/games

for all scholar-athletes The coaching position is responsible for adhering to the athletic policy approved by the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) Develop, recommend, and implement specific training/conditioning programs and skills development programs Work with other students, faculty, and staff to support the retention of student-athletes Promote teamwork, set high standards, and support the academic, personal, and leadership development of its students Must provide a consistent schedule of time for scholar-athletes to have an academic study table Provide an atmosphere conducive to good sportsmanship and stewardship Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school staff Works with the Athletic Director in scheduling facilities for practices and competition Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior and provides proper supervision of athletes at all times Collaborate with and meet with parents of scholar-athletes to keep them duly informed of the program schedule and activities Must have knowledge of and enforce all Charter School League and MHSAA rules and regulations compliance at all times Shall duly serve as a positive role model/mentor for scholar-athletes Follow established procedures in the event of an athletes injury Maintain the Track & Field equipment storage in an orderly condition and assume responsibility for its security Complete MHSAA CAP 1-2 and MHSAA Online Rules Meeting Maintain a positive image that aligns with Cornerstone's core values Must show evidence/certification of completing/attending the following and other professional development courses, workshops, and clinics to expand knowledge in all aspects of coaching Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor TRYOUTS: Hold tryouts in an organized manner by teaching material at the beginning so students have time to learn it.

Inform students at the beginning of tryouts as to how they will learn if they made the team OFF-SEASON: Conduct some off-season practices and conditioning in compliance with the MHSAA rules and regulations. Coordinate with Athletic Director regarding uniform and practice gear needs Send letter home to parents regarding practice gear requirements and uniform requirements Give out pre- and post- camp workouts to stay in shape for daily doubles Prepare materials for daily doubles and organize the upcoming season Work with Athletic Director to schedule non conference games and tournaments during the season MARCH: Hold tryouts and begin implementing coaching philosophy Arrange bus transportation with the Athletic Director to travel to away games OTHER FUNCTIONS: Attend staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Athletic Director, Principal, or other appropriate administrator

Job Description: We are currently seeking a mentor for our Childhood program (Kindergarten to 5th Grade) to serve as a positive adult role model to eight elementary children and develop loving, caring, and sustained relationships with each child.

For each child, a Friend will set positive expectations; nurture and promote each child’s strength, talents, and abilities; help ensure physical and emotional well-being; teach life and academic skills; provide enrichment activities; and model responsible behavior. A Friend will fully document activities and participate in the ongoing evaluation process. Friends will

work primarily one-on-one with their children, while also building trusting supportive relationships with parents/caregivers.

A Friend must know, understand, honor, and support the organization’s mission, vision, values, and principles, and be able to clearly articulate the organization’s function. Essential Responsibilities: Develop and sustain a long-term, caring, protective, and loving relationship with each child Spend time with children, one-on-one Partner with parents/caregivers to provide concrete and social-emotional supports for the family. Set realistic expectations and goals based on each child’s strengths, talents, abilities, and needs Teach life skills and help develop a talent/skill/area of interest with each child Provide enrichment resources and activities that include opportunities for cultural awareness Develop positive relationships with families, teachers, and others involved in each child’s life Reinforce basic academic skills Maintain a 40-hour work schedule that includes afternoons, evenings, and weekends (normal working days are Tuesday through Saturday with Sundays and Mondays off) Maintain spending within budgetary guidelines Complete, distribute, and collect time summaries, activity journals, short-term plans, expense reports, and evaluations materials accurately and in a timely manner Attend and actively participate in team meeting and staff functions Maintain First Aid/CPR certification Provide information and support to the development and executive team on related activities Fulfill other responsibilities as requested Additional qualifications: Two-year experience working with children Willingness to commit for a minimum of three years Bilingual Spanish preferred Advocate to secure additional resources, opportunities, and services for youth as appropriate • Assist with systems navigation in schools to secure conditions for optimal academic success • Strong interpersonal skills Demonstrated ability to work with children in varied capacities and settings Ability to develop trusting relationships with children, families, teachers, and others involved in each child’s life Ability to work independently and as a team player Ability to manage several concurrent issues and solve problems effectively Strong written and verbal communications skills Strong organizational and time management skills A sense of humor is a plus SALARY $52K annually BENEFITS Comprehensive PROFESSIONAL LEVEL: Professional MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: 2-degree required.
