Conduct quality assurance tests to verify that parts meet design specifications. Troubleshoot and resolve issues with machines and programs as they arise, performing basic machine maintenance such as cleaning and sharpening. Qualifications: Possess an Associates Degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering Technology, demonstrating a strong mechanical aptitude for general machinery. Proficient in Solidworks or a similar 3D modeling package.

Familiarity with CNC programming software such as G-code, Bob CAD-CAM, Esprit CAM, or equivalent. Prior experience as a CNC programmer, including expertise in surface machining and hard milling, is highly desirable. Knowledge of surface modeling, surface continuity issues, laser scanning/reverse engineering, and 3D printing/additive manufacturing is a plus. Positive and professional attitude with a strong attention to detail. Capable of standing for extended periods and lifting up to 40 pounds for short durations. No permanent subordinate personnel report to this position; however, this position may have up to two technical personnel reporting to him or her during the winter months. This position functions within a design squad which is primarily accountable for accomplishing projects assigned by the Project Engineer.

This position is unique in that the incumbent may work independently in developing completed studies and plans or may assist the squad leader in coordinating the squad's study and plan preparation activities. This position will accomplish these accountabilities with the assistance of one or two engineers and technicians assigned to the squad or at times may work independently on assignments provided by the squad leader to produce a complete study and set of plans. The geographic area within which this position operates encompasses a seven-county area which for the most part, is rural but contains several highly urbanized areas including Bloomington-Normal, Champaign-Urbana and Danville.

The greatest challenge of this position is to incorporate data that properly balances engineering requirements, costs, and community acceptance into a study then into a complete set of plans and to ensure that the process is accomplished in compliance with prescribed deadlines.
