ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE Clinical Judgment: Creates, fosters and sustains a healthy work environment which helps evidence-based practice and research. Coordinates patient care through partnership with inter-professional team members in planning, implementing and evaluating patients plans of care. Clinical Inquiry: Systematically evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice, including, but not limited to, nursing delicate indicators. Facilitates practice changes among nursing staff through quality and performance improvement initiatives and use of best, evidence-based practices and research findings. Identifies, proposes and conducts clinical research. Caring Practices: Creates and sustains an attentive, helpful, safe and therapeutic environment for patients, families and staff.

Assists in the coordination of patient care conferences and inter-professional rounds to address patient/family needs, discharge planning and best caring practices and outcomes. Advocacy and Moral Agency: Advocates on behalf of the nursing staff to represent the concerns of patients, families and staff. Facilitation of Learning: Monitors the learning needs of staff and patients/families and assists in the design, implementation and evaluation of educational activities to enhance their knowledge and skills.

Facilitates the development of clinical and leadership expertise in staff through role modeling, teaching and coaching/mentoring. Identifies staff professional growth opportunities and assists in the development of the department's succession plan. Functions as a resource within the clinical specialty program. Hours: FT, 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 8:00-5:00 PM This position would be both Procedural and In-clinic job duties JOB SUMMARY The Clinic Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed professional who uses the BSWH nursing professional practice model to coordinate patient care delivery by the health care team.

Using the nursing process, the Clinic RN backsses the patient, identifies nursing diagnoses based on responses to health problems, develops and implements an individualized plan of care, and evaluates the patient's response. The Clinic RN promotes safe passage for their patients by using knowledge of patient needs and the healthcare environment to assist patients to transition through

the healthcare encounter without any preventable complications or delays. The Clinic RN delegates interventions to health care personnel based on the Texas Nursing Practice Act, each patient's condition and the competencies of the employee.

The Clinic RN is to be used in ambulatory departments, clinics or outpatient departments that provide services Monday-Friday during normal business hours.
