Must be available to work before/after typical office hours as work may demand. Not afraid to pick up the phone and talk to people you do not know. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education: MS Degree in Civil Engineering and 12 years relevant experience or BS Degree in Civil Engineering and 15 years relevant experience.
Current registration as a Professional Engineer in either Civil or Structural Engineering is preferred. Experience/Skills: Candidate must demonstrate 8 years recent experience in design and analysis of NRC or DOE regulated nuclear facilities. Experience with finite element analysis is required. Candidate must demonstrate working knowledge of STAAD, ANSYS
or ABAQUS or similar computer codes. Candidate must demonstrate working knowledge of National Codes and Standards; specifically, IBC, AISC (ASD, LRFD, & N690), ACI (318 & 349) and ASCE (4, 7 & 43).
Candidate must be able to perform field walk-downs of the job site for the engineering work being performed. These walk-downs may involve construction sites with uneven surfaces and work in progress, walking for distances over a half mile, climbing ladders to access remote areas, dressing out in protective clothing and environments where a respirator is required. Experience in analysis for structural response to explosion (blast/detonation and deflagration) is preferred. Experience with
DOE natural phenomena hazard (NPH), Standard 1020, criteria are preferred.
Previous Client experience is preferred. Work Hours: A 40 hour work week is scheduled. Client utilizes various work schedules; including 5/8s (8 hours/day; five days per week), 4/10s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and 9/80s (9 hours/day, five days on week A and 4 days on week B). Workweek excludes Client holidays. Client Management will determine best schedule depending on work needs. Each workday has a 30-minute unpaid lunch. Area Security Access: Candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance. An active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties.
