Between five and ten years of general corporate accounting or auditing experience is required. Prior accounting experience in an electric cooperative or regulated electric utility is preferred. Responsible for developing a yearly departmental budget package for the Association including coordinating budgeting meetings, training, and alliance of costs with current reporting requirements. Key contact for the budgeting software Planning Analytics (PA). Responsible for coordinating enhancements and software upgrades and proper notification to budget users of any changes to current practice. Responsible for updating and analysis of a forecasting model and the monthly updating of budgeting/forecasting changes. In charge of documenting the budgeting process including strategic dates with specified actions required.
Proactively identify and advise on a timely basis of potential budgetary issues; advise and recommend actions to upper management, as appropriate, to ensure the achievement of the approved budget. Provide variance explanations of monthly actual/budget differences by department. Assist in developing Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) and support risk analysis. Business financial analysis, including creating financial models to support organizational decision making, analyzes industry trends and makes recommendations based on those trends.
Asset Management Fixed Assets/ Construction Work Orders: Responsible for the accounting associated with the fixed asset module of the enterprise resource program, along with all related accounting processes. Responsible for the timeliness of closing work orders and general plant to fixed assets. Supervises the Fixed Asset Accountant and Work Order Technician. Reviews various reconciliations performed by staff members. Understands and supports the business needs of other departments as it pertains to fixed asset accounting and reporting. Identify areas of opportunity to increase automations and efficiencies within the current processes and assist or initiate process improvement to enhance productivity and strengthen controls.
Responsible for supporting schedules for audit and property tax reporting. Coordinate monthly communications with the engineering department to ensure open and timely processing of work orders. Vehicle: Oversee the coordination with the facilities & fleet department to set up new vehicles in fleet management module and the asset module. Inventory: Supervise the assistance accounting provides for the physical inventory. Supports any adjustments required by monthly analysis and physical inventory.
Reviews inventory to GL monthly reconciliation. General and Reporting Preparation of tax reports and schedules for all sales, use, and income taxes. Preparation and coordination with third party vendor of Form 990. Preparation of Form 1120-POL. Preparation of Form 7A. Prepares the monthly Form 7 including supporting schedules. Prepares or reviews month end journal entries as necessary. Perform certain month-end financial reporting duties as deemed necessary. Reconcile and analyze accounts. Evaluate accounting estimates and recommend adjustments as necessary.
Perform special projects as deemed necessary. Understands and reviews data controls and internal procedures. Advises on noted irregularities. Assists in developing internal controls to prevent deviations from standards defined by CORE's Board and senior management. Balances and analyzes complex financial data and compiles reports. Ensures appropriate files are in adherence with the record retention policy and records are destroyed timely. Prepares Audit schedules as deemed necessary.
