Posting Identification Number 33227 Position Overview The Illinois Department of Corrections is looking to hire a highly organized and detail-oriented Licensed Registered Nurse, Corrections Nurse Trainee. This position will be responsible for performing direct nursing care to individuals in a correctional facility. The successful candidate shall

Job Responsibilities Performs on-the-job training in a variety of nursing care functions, such as administering medications, monitoring vital signs and examining individuals in custody utilizing nursing backssment skills and techniques. Conducting surveillance of medical unit surroundings and individuals in custody for possession of contraband and illegal drugs. Preparing reports on infractions of the facility's security rules and regulations. Receives comprehensive training on procedures used to inspect food services areas and individual in custody housing units for safety and sanitation, conducts Restrictive Housing evaluations, and documents completion and findings of inspections and evaluations. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications Requires graduation from an approved nursing education program resulting in an associate or diploma degree in nursing or a bachelor's degree in nursing. Requires licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Illinois. Preferred Qualifications (In Order of Significance) Prefers at least one (1) year of nursing experience in a correctional setting. Prefers at least one (1) year of experience working in mental health. Prefers at least one (1) year of experience problem solving in a nursing position. Prefers at least one (1) year of experience working on an interdisciplinary team.
