Identifies and escalates complex issues and initiates solutions to these issues. Installs computer hardware, repairs software, and runs diagnostic programs. Installs, maintains, and supports user connection to and use of CREIC resources.
Configures and installs hardware or software that supports critical educational and research computational needs. Involved in the installation and rollout of new software packages, and upgrades. Receives and addresses service requests from individual end users or the CREIC help desk related to the use of CREIC resources. Maintains the inventory of parts or components, tracks the progress of service requests and updates ticketing
systems, and logs repairs and services performed. Tests software and hardware to evaluate the ease of use and whether the product will aid a user in performing educational and research computing needs.
Writes software and hardware evaluation and recommendation for management review. Oversees production of user-training manuals and procedures. Oversees development of training materials, such as exercises and visual displays. Handles complex issues and problems. Possesses a high-level working knowledge of the subject matter. Reports to the Director of CREIC. The general schedule for this position is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. College/Department Overview:

Department Specific Essential Job Functions: Responsible for deployment and maintenance of CREIC computational resources and user-onboarding, installation of user software requests on CREIC resources. Supports system administration and security of CREIC resources. Works as part of the CREIC team in fulfilling current needs and anticipating future needs of educators and researchers. Creates reports detailing the use of and issues with CREIC resources. Job Level: Scope & Impact: This position is an entry-level professional position, with actions that may have a measurable impact on operations within a work group.

Reporting Relationships: Generally reports to a manager or higher but may receive basic operational direction and guidance from senior level staff members.
Qualifications Required: Requires a Bachelor's degree in a job-related field or 4+ years of equivalent work experience in a chosen field that provides knowledge of and exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts related to this field and 3+ years of system administration experience. Requires the application of expertise in a chosen field to achieve results.
