DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Duties and Responsibilities This is skilled work in several trade areas in the maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment. Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor II-SES, the incumbent in this position is responsible for assisting with day-to-day activties and operations of the general services department. This individual will be responsible for general maintenance and repair duties at all Broward County Health Department (BCHD)

buildings in Broward County to include owned, rented, shared, or leased properties.

This position is responsible for troubleshooting and identifying facility problems. Performing inspections or diagnosing facility or equipment problems, including but not limited to structures or materials to identify the causes of errors, problems, defects, and determining the type of tools and solution(s) required. This position is responsible for repairing, servicing, aligning, adjusting, installing, modifying, assembling, preparing and fixing work assignments. This position is responsible for communicating and updating the status of facility services requests in a timely manner.

The incumbent has access to BCHD facilities on weekends and before/after hours to respond to emergencies and for services by program offices within the BCHD. This position is responsible to assist maintenance mechanics identify problems, assist in repairs and supply and provide materials needed to accomplish their task. This position will ensure all maintenance mechanics have the necessary safety tools and supplies needed to perform their assigned tasks in a safe manor. This position is also responsible to create and assign work orders and follow up with work orders that were closed to ensure the work was performed in a professional manor.

Lastly, in the absence of the maintenance supervisor this position is responsible to take over all responsibilities and duties until the supervisor returns to work or a vacant position is fill again. Performs minor repairs, replaces light switches, ballasts, fuses, and performs other electrical work. Installs, maintains and repairs Electric motors, generators and related electrical and mechanical equipment Installs, maintains and repairs valves, sinks, wash bowls, sewers and other sanitary fixtures. Maintains and repairs heating and air conditioning equipment.

Operates power lathes, drill presses, threading machines, circular saws and grinding machines. Performs a variety of brick, cement and carpentry work. Cleans and replaces worn parts on a variety of equipment. Patching and painting interior walls, unclogging sinks, sewer lines and toilets, and other minor repair tasks. Cleaning areas, to include but not limited to carpets, floors and walls throughout BCHD building and properties. The incumbent has access to BCHD facilities on weekends and before/after hours and is on-call to respond to security, emergencies, vaccine and for services requested/required by program offices within the BCHD.

The position possesses keys, alarm codes, and door lock combinations for each facility. Incumbent will be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days as required and will always exhibit diligent safety and security measures. Monitors operational functions to meet specific measurable service objectives and program indicators to assure compliance with BCHD operational goals. Participates in incident command activation/ deactivation, mobilization/demobilization, supply and distribution within the logistics section during any all-hazard event.

Performs related work as required. Other related duties as required. Minimum Qualifications Experience in a commercial facility repairs and /or maintenance. Experience with electrical, HVAC systems, plumbing, grounds keeping, and carpentry. Valid Florida driver’s license Able to lift and carry 80 pounds Able to work outdoors and inclement weather Able to respond to emergencies 24 hours a day as needed Able to work a flexible schedule per agency needs. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities : Knowledge of Florida ecosystems and natural processes, wildlife biology, water management, fire ecology and plant succession. Applied knowledge of the principles and practices of habitat management and restoration, including prescribed fire, mechanical and chemical vegetation control, and exotic plant control. Applicants may be required to provide proof of a clear driving history prior to employment in this position Job Description: This is a part-time Clerk position which works as a Reader/Driver with the Division of Blind Services, and is located in the Sunrise District 11 Office.

The goal of the Division of Blind Services Employment Program is to assist individuals with visual impairments in achieving or maintaining an employment outcome that is consistent with his/her unique strengths, resources, priorities,

concerns, abilities, capabilities, interests, and informed choices. The incumbent will provide reading and transportation services for the Human Services Program Consultants (Counselors) with visual impairments, to assist them in meeting their essential job requirements that require work tasks outside of the office environment.

Examples of Work: Acts as a reader for the Human Services Program Consultant I positions. Provides transportation for Human Services Program Consultants (Counselors) to provide community outreach and informational sessions to unreached and underserved populations. Provides transportation to/from client-related meetings. Operates the state vehicle and follows all

guidelines in relation to the use of the state vehicle. Maintains confidentiality standards required by all State Employees.

Possesses and maintains a valid Florida Driver's License and a clear driving record. Inputs work hours into the People First System. EXAMPLES OF JOB CHARACTERISTICS: Documenting/Recording Information Entering, transcribing, recording, storing or maintaining information in either written form or by electronic/magnetic recording. Processing Information Compiling, coding, categorizing, calculating, tabulating, auditing, verifying or processing information or data. Interacting With Computers Controlling computer functions by using programs, setting up functions, writing software or otherwise communicating with computer systems.

English Language Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar. Computer Knowledge of computer software including applications. Minimum Qualifications: This position requires a valid Florida Class E Driver License with an acceptable driving record in accordance with FDOE and DBS State Vehicle Policies and Procedures. An unacceptable driving record is defined as any of the following: Three (3) or more moving violations in the past 2 years that accumulate 3 or more points per violation.

Any two (2) convictions of reckless driving in the past 2 years. A suspension or revocation of the driver license for moving violations in the past 2 years; and/or A suspension or revocation for refusal to take a field sobriety test, or any suspension or revocation for a DUI conviction in the past 3-4 years. Your driving record will be reviewed, and the status of your driver license confirmed. Ability to maintain a clear driving history. Ability to maintain confidentiality. To be considered for a position with the Division of Blind Services: All fields in the candidate profile (application) must be completed in its entirety.
