Your Specific Responsibilities: This is a OPS RN position under the supervision of the Senior Community Health Nursing Supervisor with the Florida Department of Health in Lee County. The incumbent provides public health nursing services for clients in FDOH -Lee clinics. This position is classified as a sensitive position. Incumbent

handles protected health information on a need to know basis following Department of Health, HIPAA and Information Security and privacy policy. Employee abides by State/Federal laws governing health information.

Responsible to maintain confidentiality, security, privacy and integrity of protected health information. This position has access to the following information sets: Medical Records, Laboratory Reports, Immunizations, and the electronic health records system. CLINIC SERVICES: Promotes and maintains health of individuals, families, and the community through appropriate preventative and rehabilitative measures. Provides comprehensive nursing in all FDOH Lee clinics and community

settings as warranted. These services include: childhood and adult immunizations, reproductive health services, counseling/testing, health screening, health education, referrals and follow-up of the referrals, timely and thorough documentation, and collection of laboratory specimens.

SUPPORT SERVICES: Maintains comprehensive quality records, collects and reports pertinent data to advanced practice registered nurses and physicians; provides appropriate case follow-up; participates in case conferences; confers with other professionals; formulates and evaluates care plans, assists in record reviews; recognizes and understands the changes in the community and nursing practice which affects community health unit programs/plans; serves as staff advisor to student affiliates and new staff nurses.

Assists with health fairs, community organizations, and specific public health events as requested. Prepares reports or other required data within specified time frames. Attends pertinent conferences as requested or permitted. Performs other miscellaneous related duties as required. Prepares biweekly leave/attendance records and daily employee activity records (EARs). Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of nursing and public health principles, practices and techniques.

Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology. Knowledge of community resources. Knowledge of correct spelling, punctuation & grammar usage Knowledge of standard business formats & styles for letters & business forms Skill in operating a personal computer Ability to administer medications. Ability to provide preventive health care and treatment to groups. Ability to assist in planning and conducting a variety of training activities. Ability to work with patients having a variety of physical problems. Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments. Ability to communicate effectively.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to teach health care. Ability to operate general office equipment Ability to follow office procedures & practices Ability to organize and maintain filing systems Ability to handle telephone calls in a courteous & effective manner Ability to communicate effectively verbally & in writing Ability to establish & maintain effective working relationships with others Ability to understand, interpret & apply applicable rules, regulations, policies & procedures Ability to prioritize individual workload Ability to work indoors with occasional temperature changes Ability to locate information that is listed alphabetically & numerically Ability to review data for accuracy & completeness Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision Ability to frequently bend, kneel, reach, and sit or stand for long periods of time Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds as needed Ability to frequently use telephone, computer, copier and small hand tools, i.

e. stapler, scissors, etc. Ability to follow instructions Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision Qualifications: Associates degree from a U.

S. accredited college or university in Nursing is required. One year of experience as a nurse with the State of Florida. A Master's degree from a U. S. accredited college or university in nursing, nursing education, public health, or a related field can substitute for the required professional nursing experience. Licensure/registration/certification requirements (If applicable, list the appropriate Florida Statute or federal regulation cite): + Registered Professional Nurse in accordance with Florida Statute 464 or eligible to practice nursing in accordance with Florida Administrative Code 210-8.27.

Other job-related requirements for this position: Incumbent may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man -made or natural. Must be willing to undergo FIT Testing. Incumbent must possess a valid Florida Driver License and have a motor vehicle to carry out these duties.

Must have current CPR certification or obtain such certification during employment. Selected immunizations or titers and/or periodic screening for tuberculosis may be recommended for this position. This position will abide by all state and federal laws, rules, and DOH policies and procedures. Working hours: (A) Daily from 8:00 a. m. to 5:00 p. m.
