Key Responsibilities : Familiarity with surgical instruments, equipment, and trays. Comfortable assisting with a variety of surgical procedures. Functions as a surgical scrub during operative and other invasive procedures Remains calm under pressure, responds to life-saving situations as needed. At the end of the procedure, prepares surgical instruments at the point of care (Operating or procedure room) according to policy/protocol, prior to transport to decontamination. Safely transports equipment to the decontamination
areas using appropriate biohazard containers. Assists with post-procedure cleaning of the operative or other invasive procedure rooms and the preparation of the room for subsequent patients.
Follows AST, AORN and other best practice standards and guidelines for perioperative/surgical technology practice. Maintains privacy and confidentiality of individuals and health information. Promotes and role models collegial, collaborative relationships with all members of the interprofessional team. Provides age-specific, culturally competent, ethical care within legal standards of practice. Minimum Requirements: Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology Program preferred If no Associate's degree, 5 years experience as an OR Scrub Tech in more than two subspecialties (ie; not just optometry) minimum. Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) strongly recommended.
