BUREAU/CRIMINAL HISTORY RECORD MAINTENANCE Internal advertisement for current FDLE members POSITION SUMMARY: This position is in the Crime Information Bureau, reporting to the Criminal History Record Maintenance section.

This is a full-time position that i s responsible for assisting with the administration and resolution of operational and management problems as they relate to criminal justice information.

Additionally, this position provides research and analysis relative to state and national laws, rules and regulations that directly and indirectly impact the maintenance or dissemination of criminal justice information. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Specific duties include: Conducts

thorough research and analysis of information from multiple resources to formulate a recommendation on administrative, operational and systematic issues or enhancements; Assists management in the quality assurance of criminal history records; Conducts analysis of documentation gathered for specialized requests and assists in the determination of impact of proposed law or rules changes; Monitors systems for operational concerns and immediately consults with management and appropriate technical staff to correct issues or programmatic concerns; Monitors workflows and assists in the completion of operational activities; Performs other related duties where appropriate or as requested by division leadership;

Conducts research and analysis for special projects related to the division strategic goals or as assigned by management; Collaborates with internal and external customers in order to gather documentation required to formulate a recommendation as required and within defined timeframes; Effectively utilizes resources available to ensure maintenance of complete and accurate criminal history records; and Maintains liaison with local, state and federal agencies and the general public by means of telephone, correspondence or personal contact.

To be considered as a potential candidate, you must meet the minimum qualifications(s) listed below.

Degrees must be from an accredited college or university as recognized by the U. S. Department of Education. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one year of experience in criminal justice, business administration, analysis, planning, research, evaluation, or administrative work; or A high school diploma or its equivalent and five years of experience in criminal justice, business administration, analysis, planning, research, evaluation, or administrative work; or Any combination of education or experience, as described above, for a total of five years.

A master's degree from an accredited college or university can substitute for one year of the required experience. Note: 30 semester hours, or equivalent, of coursework from an accredited college or university is equivalent to one year of experience. Management This position is located in Tallahassee, FL The Florida Division of Emergency Management plans for and responds to both natural and man-made disasters.

These range from floods and hurricanes to incidents involving hazardous materials or nuclear power.

The Division of Emergency Management (FDEM or Division) is the liaison between federal, state, and local agencies. FDEM prepares and implements a statewide Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan, routinely conducts extensive exercises to test state and county emergency response capabilities, provides technical assistance to local governments as they prepare emergency plans and procedures, as well as conducts emergency

operations trainings for state and local government agencies. The Division serves as the lead agency for the State Emergency Response Team (SERT), whose primary goal is the coordination of the state’s efforts during disaster response and recovery.

This coordination is conducted within the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) in Tallahassee. Additionally, the Division manages the State Watch Office; the 24-hours a day operation tasked with providing situational awareness to stakeholders statewide. After a disaster, FDEM conducts damage backssment surveys and advises the Governor of the state of Florida on whether to declare an emergency and seek federal relief funds. It is against

this backdrop that FDEM strives to demonstrate its mission of, “Coordinate, collaborate and communicate with our community stakeholders for a resilient Florida” along with our vision of, “Leading the Profession in building prepared and resilient communities”.

Position Overview and Responsibilities: This position serves as a primary point of contact for end-user support, conducting necessary troubleshooting, and system/equipment maintenance. Evaluates and backsses the functionality and efficacy of various systems. Develops and implements plans/courses of action and conducts: system and hardware installation, upgrades, and preventative maintenance. Works in the field as necessary and may deploy to remote locations with little notice for extended periods.

Assists other telecommunications staff with Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Services (RACES) and the Amateur Radio Emergency Services (ARES) groups in Florida with developing and implementing programs to expand its volunteer base. Assists telecommunications and information technology personnel in the related system design and specification development. Develops curriculum, coordinates and conducts training to personnel, volunteers, counties’ staff, and partner agency personnel in the operation of various systems.

Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Comprehensive knowledge of communications and electronic theory, including AC and DC principles, wireless and wireline transmission and reception, VOIP, and RF. Advanced proficiency in the Microsoft Windows/Office Suite, especially Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Knowledge of modern electronic equipment and tools, familiarity with wireless and wireline test and programming equipment. Ability to make decisions and work independently. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, and to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Ability to analyze the cause of faulty operation of electronic and communications equipment. Ability to operate computers, thorough understanding of voice and data communications technologies and methodologies. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with peers, supervisors, technical staff, users, and vendors. Familiar with Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rules and regulations. Assist the youth with obtaining appropriate mental health, substance abuse evaluations based on administered backssments, and arrange for specialized testing and treatment, as needed. Assist youth and family with school and after school enrollment, maintain school contact, verifying school attendance, academic performance, and behavior. Provide crisis intervention; assist the youth and family in accessing crisis intervention services/resources by making necessary referrals and follow-up on actions taken. Work with the youth to establish personal goals/plans and provide ongoing support to help youth achieve their goals and maintain skills.

Discuss with youth and family projected timeframes for completion of goals, sanctions/conditions of supervision and anticipated date for termination of supervision based on progress and as ordered by the court. Respond to concerns, needs and risks as presented by youth, family, and the community by staffing cases, plans or violations with the unit supervisor in accordance with existing departmental policies, procedures, administrative rules, and FL statutes. Determine recommended handling of law violations and provide appropriate interventions when a youth violates the conditions of supervision based on the Effective Response Matrix and follow up on actions taken in response to a violation.

Conduct staffing when benchmarks occur, case milestones are achieved by the youth and or family or case is complex and in need of additional considerations (i. e. when youth is still securely detained a certain number of days pre-adjudication or post disposition, or beyond a timeframe identified in statute, when youth have completed all court ordered requirements and conditions of supervision or violated supervision, and when transition and exit conferences are scheduled for a set number of days prior to the youth’s release from residential commitment, complex cases).

Participate in transition and exit planning to finalize plans for the youth pending release from residential programs, which includes referrals for post-residential services to for mental health, substance abuse, education and workforce services. will not be considered. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : This Correctional Officer Sergeant position is located at Everglades Correctional Institution.

The incumbent in this position is considered to have regulatory responsibilities and is subject to the provisions of Chapter 60L-36, Florida Administrative Code. Duties include but are not limited to the following: Supervises male or female inmates commensurate with the level of risk they present. Manages inmate housing areas, enforces rules and sanitation standards. Transports inmates using approved restraints and observing relevant laws, policies and procedures. Conducts accurate head counts, maintains custody and control over

inmates at appointments outside the secured perimeter and escorts inmates within the secured perimeter.

Inventories personal property of inmates and issues receipts. Performs crisis intervention functions to include, but not limited to, subduing or restraining violent or uncooperative inmates, defending persons against attack, and preventing escapes, using approved deadly or non-deadly force, restraints or other approved methods. Required to wear body armor and use weapons. Maintains facility security. This includes performing searches of inmates and other persons. This includes the visual inspection of body cavities and possible exposure to body fluids.

Responsible for checking inmate mail and/or packages for contraband. Observes inmate behavior to identify inmates exhibiting mental or emotional disorders. Uses counseling techniques or referral action, as outlined in written policies or guidelines. Conducts inspections and visual and audio surveillance of persons, property, vehicles, building and outdoor areas. Physically checks doors, windows, gates, barred sections, fences and other areas to ensure proper security. Provides emergency assistance during emergencies, disasters and accidents to include but not limited to, CPR, first aid, apprehension of escaping or escaped inmates, implementation of evacuation procedures, provides security of inmates and/or areas in accordance with the emergency situation.

Directs Correctional Officers in supervising inmates in housing units and those segregated for administrative or punitive measures. Directs Correctional Officers in checking inmate mail for possible contraband, and in supervising inmates working on work details both inside and outside the fenced perimeter. Directs Correctional Officers in maintaining master inmate location counts and directs the entire operation of the Control Room or the Main Gate.

Ensures that all transportation permits are completed accurately and signed by the appropriate authority. Directs Officers in preparing reports such as special progress, minor work, disciplinary and/or incident reports. Attends mandatory and other training as required.
