Planner / Scheduler MISSION / SUMMARY: This position is responsible for managing scheduling and supply planning responsibilities for Coated Recycled Board (CRB) at our Kalamazoo Mill. The successful candidate will be responsible for the detailed scheduling of paper machines in a team environment. This includes the trimming, sequencing, and sourcing of the production schedules. The planner will work
closely with production, shipping, logistics and our customer service team to effectively execute all planning functions at the Kalamazoo Mill.
JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following. Position reports to the Manager, Planning and Customer Service Creation/ management of daily manufacturing production schedule, by machine, to meet sales allocations and customer orders. Ensure that orders are scheduled on the machine most capable and qualified to run the order as efficiently as possible to: Minimize trim/side rolls Maximize machine trim to efficiently Provide customers with on time shipments. Adjust production schedule as necessary to allow for scheduled and unscheduled downtime.
Regular, effective communication with production, shipping, logistics and customer service. Partner with site leadership team to ensure product quality standards are met or exceeded. Prepare reports, as needed, by management. Compliance with all company policies, procedures, and processes. Participate in local Lean Manufacturing cadence. Participate in off-shift coverage responsibilities and rotation as required Understand downstream and upstream dependencies, i. e. production processes, customer service, transportation planning.
Coordinate and manage the work-in-process and finished goods inventories through the SAP/Panther systems. Other duties as assigned. Occasional overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail.
Must be willing to work as of the weekend duty rotating schedule. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Sitting or standing for extended periods of time up to 8+-hours. Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs. Reading computer screen or other electronic devices. Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment.
