The Position Biologists conduct fisheries, wildlife and/or habitat management projects and research studies including data collection, analysis and interpretation; develop and implement project proposals and work plans; prepare recommendations; and participate in public relations activities.

Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation. Game Division is currently recruiting for two Biologist positions. One is located in Battle Mountain and the second position can

be located in Ely or Eureka. Duties include survey and inventory of big game and small game species.

Many of these surveys are conducted aerially using a helicopter; however, some surveys can be conducted via ground by foot or vehicle. Data management, data analyses including population modeling, report writing, and public presentations are essential to this position. Both positions will also deal extensively with land management agencies, sportsmen and the general public. Battle Mountain position is responsible for areas in Lander and Eureka counties; Ely/Eureka position is responsible for areas primarily in Eureka, White Pine, Nye, Lincoln and Elko counties.

Battle Mountain position is also partially responsible for developing and administering habitat improvement projects and conducting technical review of federal land use planning documents. The Ely/Eureka position has responsibilities for population management, habitat management and other duties associated with big game and upland game species, including sage-grouse. Special Notes Work may be performed under adverse weather conditions and include extensive walking under difficult conditions in remote and/or primitive locations.

Working on occasional nights and/or weekends may be required. Specialized experience may be required and will be identified at the time of recruitment. Special Requirements Statewide travel and outdoor work is required. A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. Cultivates contacts important to news coverage in the metropolitan area, including law enforcement. Monitors police and emergency scanners and electronic/printed sources for news and disseminates the information to appropriate newsroom personnel. Cooperates with and supports news and online platforms as assigned. Writes compelling stories for newscasts and web distribution. Calls sources and follows up on leads, identifying the most compelling video and sound.

Masters the station's graphics system and uses all of the available information and media to craft compelling and accurate daily stories on-line and on air. Works closely with fellow producers, anchors, reporters, and control room operators to ensure technically flawless newscasts. Does in-house packages and re-track stories when needed. Regularly updates station's social media posts. Competencies Multi-task in a dynamic, high pressure, deadline and content driven and technology-intensive environment. Candidate must be able to read write and speak Spanish fluently.
