HEALTH & SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Maintenance Technician is responsible for complying with the Company Health & Safety Program including Occupational Health & Safety Legislation, regulations, standards and Company Health & Safety policies. Reference: JDA-003 Worker/Supplied Labour Health & Safety Responsibilities (Addendum to worker Job Descriptions). MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a secondary school diploma or equivalent, with preference given to those who have completed Maintenance diploma/certificate and/or hold a ticket in industrial maintenance/millwright.

Preference will be given to candidates who also hold a valid industrial electrician (442A), or industrial mechanic (Millwright Red Seal program) certification (as necessary for the required role), or must be in the position to challenge the 442 Electrical test (with hours and experience requirement). Preference will be given to those candidates who have education in the areas of electrical, PLC, mechanical and hydraulics. WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: This position requires the following minimum work experience qualifications: Must have at least a minimum of two- four years' experience in an industrial maintenance environment, with preference given to those who have knowledge and experience in the areas of PLC (OMRON/AB, Robotic (Fanuc), electrical, mechanical and hydraulics.

The primary focus is on supporting R&D missions however, support of LEV systems for operations and facility staff is also an important aspect of the program. Major Duties/Responsibilities: This position will support the SME for the LEV program and a key resource in the specification and design of needed LEV systems. This position

will be responsible for ensuring R&D and operations staff are provided with appropriate expertise and support to ensure adequate local exhaust / ventilation systems are provided.

This position will be responsible for refining and maintaining the command media for the program. This includes the development of new, or review and refinement of, lab-level procedures, exhibits, guidelines, and the inclusion of applicable codes and standards in ORNL’s Standards Based Management system (SBMS). The command media addresses design, installation, modification, inspection and testing, and use of enclosing, capturing and receiving hoods. Working with the Engineering MSO, Point of Contact (POC) and

Quality Representative, this position will assist in the development and implementation of an assurance and backssment strategy for the LEV program.

This strategy will be integrated with Engineering’s multi-year backssment plan/schedule. Specific activities and tasks for this position include: Collaborate with R&D and operations staff to understand the work being planned and the associated LEV needs. Collaborate with Safety and Health professionals who prescribe the performance criteria of the LEV system. Prepare specification and perform designs necessary to provide effective LEV systems. Preferred Qualifications: Have a working knowledge of applicable LEV requirements. May provide field technical support to maintenance engineers and craft personnel during core components installation. WORK ENVIRONMENT Physical requirements for this job may include frequent walking and walking for long distances.

Other work environment requirements may include climbing of stairs, ducking, kneeling, or crawling around equipment and facilities. Exposure to ionization radiation normally associated with operation of neutron scattering instruments for scientific research is also possible. The potential exists to work with vendors fabricating reactor components comprised of beryllium materials. The successful candidate should have a strong background in civil or structural engineering, the ability to provide review and analysis for engineering projects and nuclear safety basis documents, and the flexibility to learn and support other systems and projects at the High Flux Isotope Reactor (HFIR). Major Duties/Responsibilities:

Preparation and maintenance of the HFIR safety basis documents, including the HFIR Safety Analysis Report (SAR), Cold Neutron Source Documented Safety Analysis (CS DSA), HFIR Technical Safety Requirements (TSRs), fuel shipping container Safety Analysis Reports for Packaging (SARP), and Probabilistic Risk backssment (PRA).

Perform analysis, testing, and research as necessary to support the HFIR beryllium reflector replacement and reactor pressure vessel replacement projects. Ensure technical compliance with 10 CFR Part 830 Subparts A and B, affecting reactor and facility safety, through implementation of ORNL Standards Based Management System (SBMS) and RRD procedures. Application of the

Unreviewed Safety Question (USQ) process per ORNL SBMS and RRD procedure directly to the HFIR and Cold Source Facility.

Interpreting and implementing DOE Natural Phenomena codes and regulations as well as nuclear facility structural materials and design codes. Perform seismic qualifications, analyses, and evaluations in accordance with DOE-STD-1020 and -021, and International Building Code. Perform research and/or testing needed to validate safety analysis assumptions or controls.
