Entry-level gas designers leverage their education, and any experience gained, in preparing
construction drawings and other documents to design portions of projects, as assigned. Designers work with teams of drafters and engineers on developing construction-ready documents and plans for bidding, permitting, construction, and cost-estimating activities.
The designer performs activities for underground utility infrastructure by following client, NV5, and industry standards, specifically working within Auto CAD Civil 3D and/or other applicable design applications. This position may support multiple projects among remote offices, under direct supervision and guidance. utility engineering area of interest. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: Working under the supervision and mentoring of senior level engineering staff, assist in the following: Perform entry-level utility/engineering design support applying the design and industry/client standards, procedures, and design criteria working on routine utility engineering tasks.
Conduct field visits to project sites to perform condition backssments and inventory of critical design elements with senior engineers/technicians. Collaborate with multidiscipline design engineers and technicians. Under the supervision of a senior engineer, support the advancement of designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings in conformance with the applicable standards and regulations.

Qualifications Associates Degree or Technical Equivalent Degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or relevant field.
Candidates with experience working in the utility industry will be highly considered. A minimum of 1-2 years of Auto CAD, Micro Station and/or Auto CAD Civil 3D and Plant 3D experience on utility related projects. Direct design and drafting work in the power-delivery field, with emphasis on natural gas work desired. Familiarity of relevant industry standards for design and construction.
