ï'· Performs venipuncture and skin puncture utilizing the appropriate procedure, technique and materials for each test ordered. ï'· Obtains blood/specimen and performs various screening tests as ordered for diagnostic testing. ï'· Collects venous, capillary and micro specimens from patients. ï'· Calms and reassures patients/significant other who are anxious or apprehensive about having blood specimen withdrawn; explains why specimen is needed in order to elicit cooperation. ï'· Prepares and transports specimens and test requests to appropriate laboratories.

3. Interacts and communicates in a customer responsiveness and courteous manner in compliance with i RESPECT standards and promoting patient/customer satisfaction. Works collaboratively with medical/hospital staff and patients to coordinate and implement patient care activities. 4. Performs clerical duties such as answering telephone, responding to call signal, filing/assembling charts, completing tab sets, transcribing orders and scheduling tests. 5. Prepares and maintains required records, reports and files for administrative and compliance purposes.

Maintains patient medical records; documents patient status and care given; performs charting duties; records activities and observations. Utilizes patient computer systems to enter and retrieve data. 6. Lifts, positions and transports patients utilizing proper technique and equipment. Accompanies and remains with patient for clinical test or procedures in other departments/areas. Transports charts, specimens, equipment and supplies. 7. Maintains confidentiality in matters relating to patient/family, department and hospital information. Adheres to established department and organization policies (i.

e. HIPAA, Confidentiality, and Compliance Policies). 8. Responds appropriately to emergency situations and notifies appropriate personnel. 9. Completes required continuous training and education, including department specific requirements. ï'· Attends staff meetings, all mandatory in-service and additional continuing education as required. ï'· Responds to problems/opportunities to improve care. ï'· Supports and participates in the organization#s Performance Improvement initiatives. 10. Assists with care and maintenance of department equipment and utilizes supplies in a cost effective manner.

13. Provides coverage for relief and absences as required. 14. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required. MACHINES OR EQUIPMENT OPERATED: Computer, EKG, phlebotomy, blood pressure equipment, oxygen and other patient care equipment. Stretcher, wheelchairs, beds, lifting equipment. JOB REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Completion of an approved medical assistant program. Completion of a nursing assistant program with documentation of training in EKG and Phlebotomy required in lieu of medical assistant training. Qualified by education, training or experience to work with the neonatal, adolescent, adult and/or geriatric patient as specialty assignment dictates.

LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION: Current CPR/BLS certification required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS # ABILITIES: ï'· Demonstrated knowledge and skills to provide care, maintain clinical competency and meet age-specific patient needs of patients within the unit to include: patient transport, EKG testing, blood/specimen collection, data entry, and maintaining sterile environment and infection control practices. ï'· Demonstrated ability to follow written and oral instructions, plan and organize work to be done, effectively record and reflect observations, react and perform under stress in emergency situations, and communicate effectively with unit personnel, medical/hospital staff, patient, family and others to ensure optimal patient care.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Constant walking and standing during assigned shift. Ability to bend, stoop, twist; assist patients in turning, assist patients in treatment room, push wheelchair patients, and assist patients in rising from and returning to wheelchair; exposure to infectious agents; hearing and visual acuity to perform tasks on patients and receive/interpret instructions.

Heavy Work - Exerting up to 150 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 75 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 30 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The virtual Hospital nurse will be the nucleus of the care provided to inpatients who are cared for in their home by medical personnel.

This RN will have virtual visits with the patient, document in the electronic medical record, coordinate the plan of care, and participate in multidisciplinary rounds. The majority of your time will be spent in a central command center where you will be working with other RNs and Medical doctors to care for patients who require inpatient care, but can receive the care in

Job Description: Position Summary: Reporting directly to the Hospital at Home Director of Nursing, The Virtual Staff RN is responsible for providing high-quality patient care to various patient populations within the framework of the Hospital at Home model.
