Position Summary: Responsible for assigned activities within the LSS/Security/TGMS disciplines in the M&T global business unit on a project or program. Represents the discipline on the project and with the client to resolve technical questions and as required to coordinate work. Job Dimensions: Supervision Received Receives operational supervision and technical guidance from a Project Engineer, Senior Engineering Supervisor, or Chief Engineer. Objectives are defined and results are subject to supervisory review. Supervision Exercised Supervises and provides technical direction to subordinate engineers, scientists, specialists, designers and drafters as assigned. Contact Maintains contacts with client representatives as directed, with suppliers, appropriate field personnel and other disciplines to ensure the coordination of the work within the project or assignment and compliance with Bechtel/client requirements.

Responsibilties: Responsible for the activities on a medium size project in an engineering or scientific discipline. Supervises and provides technical direction to subordinate engineering supervisors, engineers, specialists, scientists, designers and drafters. Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to upper management. Reviews and approves key engineering drawings and calculations and bid summaries.

Requires a broad knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, and design criteria pertinent to the particular discipline. Requires a good knowledge of Bechtel’s administrative practices and supervisory experience. Plans, develops, coordinates and reviews engineering work within the LSS/Security/TGMS disciplines on a project or assignment in the M&T global business unit. Supervises the day-to-day technical work of discipline engineers, scientists, specialists, designers and drafters. Conducts annual performance reviews in accordance with approved procedures and holds career development discussions.

When assigned, recommends personnel actions such as staff additions, terminations, transfers and salary changes. Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and manages implementation and performance accordingly. Estimates staffing needs and schedules and assigns work to meet schedule dates. Coordinates with client representatives as delegated to obtain their approval on phases of work. Reviews and approves key engineering drawings and calculations, including field and design documents relating to the discipline.

Coordinates assigned engineering work with other project groups. Ensures that engineers and scientists supervised receive appropriate on-the-job training for their professional development. Promotes the creation of a work environment, supported by leadership, which fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction. Qualifications and Skills: Basic Qualifications: 10+ years of experience delivering basic and detailed design, construction, and project coordination of High-Tech/Semiconductor facility Engineering Technology Systems (Fire Alarm, TGMS).

5-10 years combined Engineering and Construction Team leadership. Preferred NICET Level II or III Fire Alarm System Certification. Experience in an Engineering office or consultancy to the High-Tech Industry – especially Semiconductors. Candidate will be familiar with applicable codes, standards, and local practices. Additional Qualifications: Knowledge in use of industry standard software (CAD, REVIT, Navisworks, Xtralis, Microsoft Suites) is desirable. Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to upper management.

Possesses strong applicable experience in project design/execution with previous demonstrated experience and ability in the specific discipline. Prior work experience for the supervision of an engineering discipline on a project. Prior work experience being responsible for the engineering progress and performance reporting within a project earned value management system and change management program. Strong directional leadership, people management, teamwork, and communication skills. Is a self-motivated individual with the ability to influence without being authoritative.
