Carrier Corporation's Air Management Systems team in Syracuse, NY, is seeking a qualified Sr. Design for manufacturing Engineer (DFME) to support their development of advanced, high efficiency fan technologies for HVAC applications.
About this role This candidate will have experience taking projects from concept through production (PPAP). Ideally they will have strong component design skills with specific focus and knowledge around design for manufacturing in plastic injection molding, sheet metal design and tooling, and die cast part design and tooling.
Material knowledge is also required. Frequent interactions with Senior Staff, Engineers, suppliers, and internal customers will be required. Some travel to support part manufacturing and resolution of part deviation issues.
Good communication and planning skills are required. Key Responsibilities Expert level Mechanical design experience using 3D CAD and using/applying manufacturing knowledge to mechanical designs. Create production prints or guide other Sr. Design Engineers. Advanced knowledge of GD&T to develop stack tolerances for mechanical prints and assembles. Good communication and presentation skills. Inspection of production parts and comparison to design intent to identify acceptable
deviations, or knowledge of tooling and processing to develop plans to correct.
As needed technical planning and technical project communications/reviews. Work with internal Carrier teams and suppliers to implement custom fan & AMS designs. 5-10% domestic and international travel. Basic Qualifications BS Mechanical Engineering 10+ years of mechanical design, CAD, Plastics and composites material knowledge, as well as Tooling and fixture design experience Preferred Qualifications Other qualifications you may have that would be beneficial in this role include: MSME with 7-10 years' of experience. AAS with 20 years' of work experience in a related field.

About this role As we are expanding our team in the Systems and Control Center of Excellence, we are seeking an experienced, talented, highly motivated, and results-driven engineer with expertise in control systems specification, design, architecting, programming, and verification.
The Staff Controls Engineer will work with global, cross disciplinary teams to design and qualify control solutions for commercial HVAC applications. Key Responsibilities Provide analysis of dynamic systems and control performance including controllability, robustness, stability,
and optimization. Provide recommendation to equipment design based on control objectives and system performance. Develop real time simulation models using Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow in support of real time testing of integrated controllers using Model-in-the-Loop/Software-in-the-Loop/Hardware-in-the-Loop verification methods.
Develop advanced controllers including MPC/NMPC, adaptive control, and robust controllers for MIMO systems. Develop event based control solutions. Integration and analysis of dynamic plant models from multiple HVAC domains to enable controls and software verification Work with System Engineers to develop system requirements. Work with V&V engineers to develop and
deploy test plans. Understanding of thermodynamics and turbo-machinery. Knowledge of control system diagnostics algorithms and their design process. Familiarity with Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow as a control system design tool. Familiarity with Matlab auto code generation. Knowledge of dynamic system simulation of controls and equipment using physics-based or data-driven models. Knowledge of a causal modelling languages such as Modelica a plus.
