JOB DUTIES: Performs duties associated with 2nd Level Technical Support. Administers a complex network or group of networks utilizing one or more TCP/IP or non-TCP/IP networking protocols. Oversees the monitoring of all information technology usage related to City personnel and vendors to safeguard the city's assets, intellectual property, and computer
systems. Identifies the emerging information technologies to be assimilated, integrated, and introduced within the city which will have a significant positive impact on the enterprise.
Evaluates and/or recommends purchases of computers, network hardware, peripheral equipment, and software. Provides technical consulting services to department/organization regarding use of computers and networks to satisfy business needs. Installs, configures, and maintains the city's LAN/WAN network infrastructure, network servers, network infrastructure, network cabling, public safety communications system, and other related equipment, devices, and systems; adds or upgrades and configures disk drives,
printers, and related equipment. Primary support responsibility for the city's VMware server infrastructure and for the city's VMware Horizon virtual desktop infrastructure Performs and/or oversees software and application installations/upgrades.
Works with the Director of Information Technology and/or the IT Manager to maintain software site licenses for the department and organization. Implements network security, including building firewalls, applying cryptography to network applications, managing host security, file system permissions, and file system integrity.
