The ability to work with personal computers using word processing software, spreadsheets, and project management software is also necessary. This job involves responsibilities in the area of selecting and installing purchased software, planning projects and training other Information Services staff.

May direct major projects and supervise other Information Services personnel when called upon by IS Management. Job Duties Writes computer programs to meet pre-determined requirements using previously established plans and system designs. Also, designs and develops programs using self-developed plans. Plans, analyzes,

designs, develops, tests and implements systems on simple to complex projects. Takes into consideration business process changes and hardware and software requirements, including PC's, servers, peripherals and associated configurations.

Makes modifications to existing programs as requested by various users and suggest improvements to make programs more efficient and user-friendly. Works with other departments to define, design, program and document interfaces between software and other systems for real time integration, controls, communications or statistical process control. Performs work with little or no supervision, conferring with supervisor on unusual matters. Develops effective

program and system documentation following established departmental standards and takes appropriate action when methodology does not cover situation.

Maintains existing programs by troubleshooting, coding, testing, and debugging. This includes purchased software as well as custom coded software. Works with vendors to identify and install program and operating software fixes and enhancements. Uses computer languages necessary to perform assigned duties. Trains users and Information Services personnel on new or modified systems. Analyzes assigned problems and determines appropriate corrective procedures. Works under minimum supervision guided by overall objectives and direction, apprising the supervisor about progress and unusual complications.

Keeps abreast of emerging technology and industry direction. Proposes and presents recommendations for business solutions to Management. Builds relationships and partnerships with our customers. Provides technology, services and business solutions to our customers and vendors. Under direction of Information Services Management, provides training and development of Information Services and other departmental personnel. More experienced and/or knowledgeable incumbents may plan, assign, and supervise work assignments related to complex projects.

Communicates the status and progress of projects with IS Management. Provides feedback concerning project issues, assigned personnel, etc. to IS Management. Studies special projects, such as company software purchases. Performs the following for each project: conducts studies, develops alternatives, makes recommendations, and recommends company technical direction as appropriate. Follows departmental standards when developing and implementing systems. Serves on project teams representing Information Services when assigned by supervision. Schedules and conducts meetings to solve problems or implement project plans.

Effectively works with users, professional consultants, external customers, vendors and other departmental personnel to discuss and develop project solutions. Keeps work area clean and orderly. Knows safety rules that apply to the safety of others and to personal safety. Reports malfunction of equipment to proper authority. Performs other work as instructed by supervision. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or equivalent from an accredited four-year college or university, and four or more years of experience.

OR must exhibit a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university, with four or more years of full-time experience in one or more of the predominant languages used in the Information Services Department. Demonstrated experience and knowledge in web network and security concepts as evidenced by pertinent certification such as Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer.
